Rare 1969 Experience

Friday in conversation with stripper daughter, she found new research on my first female child (she was a cute baby, not like most CdLS children).  She was born 1969, doctors did not know what my baby girl had at birth (reported only 20 in the world). Can this genetic disorder be passed from one family generation to another?  As of today, no.  As a new Mother in the Mormon church, Salt Lake City, Utah, I was alone caring for a female child with a rare disorder.  At that time there was no help for parents who had a child with CdLS.

I thought the baby was retarded.  She had a rare, genetic disorder syndrome (1 in 30,000).  It broke me.  I was self righteous, judgmental of many things.  It took 20 years for me to see the positive side.  I learned tolerance and compassion.

My daughter said, "Mom, you need to praise yourself for surviving this rare experience.  Instead of Bikram being your teacher, you are his teacher".  Zoe Zane has practiced Bikram Yoga over 10 years.

Bikram Choudhury, founder of the Bikram Yoga system, is also the founder of the Yoga College of India. Born in Calcutta in 1946, Bikram began practicing yoga at age four. He practiced yoga 4–6 hours every day. At the age of thirteen, he won the National India Yoga Championship. He was undefeated for the following three years and retired as the undisputed All-India National Yoga Champion. Bikram later devised the 26 postures sequence and founded Bikram’s Yoga College of India. He has also written books and sings.
